BLOG #87   A CHOSEN PEOPLE #3    1/3/2021

My landlords in Dyer, Tennessee, had two adopted children. When the children found out they were adopted, I was impressed with the way my landlords handled the situation. They said, “most parents have no choice who their children will be, but we chose you!” I remember how good those children felt about themselves because they knew they had been chosen.

The Apostle Paul said, “He (God) predestined us to adoption as sons (and daughters) through Jesus Christ to Himself…” (Ephesians 1:5, NASB). The word “predestine” means “to determine beforehand.”

The two children I knew in Dyer, Tennessee, could not earn their adoption. It is also true we cannot earn our adoption as children of God. Only He can give us a new life. It is only through Jesus that we can be born again (saved).

What is the purpose of God’s predestinating us to adoption? It is His will that we may be presented before Him holy and blameless. That will not be fully achieved until we see God face to face.
