En la historia del ciego, los discípulos de Jesús preguntaron a un rabino: "¿Quién pecó, este hombre o sus padres?" En aquellos días, era una creencia común que la ceguera u otras formas de sufrimiento eran las consecuencias del pecado. La historia del ciego en Juan el capítulo nueve es diferente. Jesús dejó claro que la ceguera del hombre no fue debido a un pecado que él o sus padres cometieron. Entonces, ¿por qué nació ciego? Jesús dijo: "Esto sucedió para que la obra de Dios se mostrara en su vida" (Juan 9:3, NIV).  ¿Qué quiere decir Jesús? La respuesta es simple. Jesús sanó al ciego "para probar lo que Dios puede hacer."

Jesús escupió en el suelo e hizo algo de barro con su saliva. Se lo puso en los ojos del hombre. Entonces le dijo al ciego, «Ve y lávate en el estanque de Siloé» (Juan 9:7, NVI). El hombre hizo lo que Jesús le pidió que hiciera. Cuando regresó a casa, la gente podía decirle que el ciego podía ver. En los Evangelios, se dice que Jesús sanó a los ciegos de varias maneras. Lo mismo es cierto en asuntos espirituales. Debemos tener confianza en El. No debemos tener miedo. Debemos confiar en el Señor que sabe lo que es mejor para nosotros.

Hoy en día, la gente de todo el mundo está sufriendo debido al coronavirus. Muchas familias han perdido a sus seres queridos. ¿Podría ser que estemos sufriendo a causa de los pecados de la humanidad? Si es así, Jesús tiene un remedio para nosotros. Si ponemos nuestra fe y confianza en Jesús, si le confesamos nuestros pecados, y por medio de Su Espíritu Santo invitamos a Jesús a nuestras vidas, nos perdonará nuestros pecados.

Goliath was a Philistine soldier who was over nine feet tall and maybe as much as nine feet nine inches tall. As this world goes, Goliath’s size would intimidate me. Goliath seemed to be invincible. He challenged the Israelites to choose a man who would go against him. All the Israeli soldiers were afraid of Goliath. None of them were willing to fight against him.  

David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:37, NIV). Obviously, David did not think Goliath was invincible nor was he afraid of him.    

Goliath had the carnal weapons for war. He had a spear, a sword, and a shield. Goliath also had size and military experience. David only had the ordinary weapons of a shepherd boy. However, with a sling shot and one round stone David hit Goliath in the forehead and killed him.

If we have the same amount of faith David had in God, what do you think would happen? I believe the Lord would do things through us that we would have thought were impossible!

The Bible says, even “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you” (Luke 17:6, NIV). That is, “both the source and the object of all genuine faith - even the weak mustard seed variety – is God,” so says the Bible expositor, John MacArthur.

Mateo 14:25 dice, "fue el "cuarto reloj de la noche". Eso significaba que estaba oscuro, pero justo antes del amanecer... Desde una montaña, Jesús observó a Sus discípulos mientras remaban al otro lado del lago. "Cuando ellos habían remado tres o tres millas y medio, vieron a Jesús acercándose al barco, caminando sobre el agua... (Juan 6:18-20).

El milagro de Jesús "caminando sobre el agua" era otro signo de la deidad de Jesús. Detuvo temporalmente la fuerza de la gravedad. Cuando lo hizo, demostró Su poder o dominio sobre la naturaleza.

 

Cuando era soldado en Fort Campbell, Kentucky, otro soldado, que no conocía, se me acercó. "Señor, lo he visto durante el entrenamiento básico. Creo que debes ser cristiano".

Tal vez no nos demos cuenta, pero los ojos de Jesús siempre están sobre nosotros. Tenemos que mantener nuestros ojos sobre Él, porque Él es el poder guía del universo. Si le alcanzamos con fe y confianza, puede guiarnos por el camino de la rectitud. Jesús puede ayudarnos a llegar a ser lo que quiere que seamos.

A TEST OF FAITH #1

God told Abraham to take his only son, Isaac, and sacrifice him on the alter as a burnt offering (Genesis 22:2). How would you react if you were in Abraham’s situation? Abraham’s response may shock you! Abraham did what God asked him to do (read Hebrews 11:17-19). Why? Abraham believed God would keep the promise God had given him. Abraham told his servants to stay with the donkey until he and his son, Isaac, worshiped and returned (Genesis 22:5). On the way to the altar, Isaac asked his father “…where is the lamb for the burnt offering? Abraham said, “God…will provide the lamb for the burnt offering…” (Genesis 22:7, NIV).

We can learn some lessons from the way Abraham handled the test. First, Abraham proved God’s will was a priority in his life. Second, Abraham showed what God called him to do was not impossible. It is interesting in Genesis 22:14, NIV, Abraham called the place where he was to sacrifice his son “The Lord Will Provide.” Instead of Isaac, a ram was sacrificed. 1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV says: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” The way out is not the way of defeat, it is the way of victory. It never was in God’s plan for Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac.

Cuando Jesús pasó por encima del mar de Galilea, una «mucha gente lo seguía, porque veían las señales milagrosas que hacía en los enfermos» (Juan 6:2, NVI). Cuando Jesús vio a la multitud de cinco mil, tuvo compasión de ellos. Jesús le preguntó a Felipe dónde podían comprar pan para alimentar al pueblo. «Ni con el salario de ocho meses podríamos comprar suficiente pan para darle un pedazo a cada uno - respondió Felipe. Otro de sus discípulos, Andrés, que era el hermano de Simón Pedro, le dijo: Aquí hay un muchacho que tiene con cinco panes de cebada y dos pescados, pero ¿qué es esto para tanta gente» (Juan 6:7-9, NVI)?

Jesús tomó los panes y los peces. Luego hizo lo suficiente para alimentar a los 5,000. «Una vez que quedaron satisfechos, dijo a sus discípulos: «Recojan los pedazos que sobraron, para que no se desperdicie nada. Así lo hicieron, y con los pedazos de los cinco panes de cebada que les sobraron a los que habían comido, llenaron doce canastas» (Juan 6:12-13, NVI). ¿Hay una lección espiritual que se debe aprender de este pasaje de las Escrituras? A pesar de la cantidad de gracia que Dios ya ha mostrado, siempre tendrá más que suficiente para cualquiera.

El propósito del cuarto signo era revelar que Jesús es el Mesías y el Hijo de Dios. Sin embargo, el pueblo rechazó a Jesús como el Mesías. «...comenzó a decir: En verdad éste es el profeta, el que ha de venir al mundo» (Juan 6:14, NVI). La multitud evidentemente quería un Mesías que satisfaga sus necesidades físicas en lugar de sus necesidades esspirituales.

SEVEN SIGNS THAT REVEAL WHO JESUS IS - #7

The story about the resurrection of Lazarus is found in John chapter eleven. The sisters of Lazarus notified Jesus that their brother was ill. Instead of returning to Bethany immediately, the Bible says Jesus “stayed where he was two more days” (vs. 6, NIV). By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days” (vs. 11, NIV). Why did Jesus wait so long?

Maybe it is because of something F. F. Bruce says: “The rabbis’ believed a person’s soul revisited the tomb during the first three days but left it permanently from the 4^th day onward; death was then irreversible.” John, the author, wanted to make it clear Lazarus was dead.

Why did Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead? John writes, “it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it” (vs. 4, NIV). Jesus did something the ancient heathens thought could not be done. It was even beyond anything God could do.

Our physical bodies will die someday. However, Jesus Himself is the resurrection and the life!

Jesus has the power to resurrect us. In Him, we have eternal life.

                    «Jesús le dijo: Levántate, toma tu lecho, y anda» (Juan 5:8, RVR1960).

Era una gente de superstición de larga data que carecía de fuerza física o estaban indefensos acudieron a la piscina en Bethesda para ser sanados. La persona tuvo que entrar en la piscina cuando el agua estaba preocupada, y tuvo que ser el primero en la piscina.

En Juan 5:6, Jesús le preguntó al hombre impotente si quería recuperarse. Jesús sabía que el hombre había sido impotente durante treinta y ocho años. Después de treinta y ocho años, ¿había perdido el hombre la esperanza de que pudiera ser sanado? ¿Se había contentado como un hombre impotente?

El hombre lisiado pensó que no podía recoger su cama y caminar. Cuando Jesús le dio el mandamiento: «Levántate, toma tu lecho, y anda", el hombre inmediatamente "tomó su cama y caminó.»

Podemos aprender de esta historia. Varias veces el Señor me ha llamado a una tarea. No conseguimos encontrar tu podido. En mi viaje por la vida, he aprendido que si el Señor me asigna una tarea, me ayudará a hacerlo. Lo mismo es cierto para ti. Si el Señor te asigna una tarea, te ayudará a hacerlo.

In the story of the blind man Jesus' disciples asked a Rabbi: "Who sinned, this man or his parents? In those days, it was a common belief that blindness or other forms of suffering were the consequences of sin. The story of the blind man in John chapter nine is different. Jesus made it clear the man's blindness was not because of a sin he or his parents committed. Then why was the blind man born blind? Jesus said, "this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life" (John 9:3, NIV). What does Jesus mean? The answer is simple. Jesus healed the blind man "to prove what God can do."

Jesus spit on the ground and made some mud with His saliva. He put it on the man's eyes. Then He told the blind man, "Go...wash in the pool of Siloam" (John 9:7, NIV). The man did what Jesus asked him to do. When he came back home, the people could tell the blind man could see. In the Gospels, it is said Jesus healed the blind in various ways. The same is true in spiritual matters. We must have confidence in Him. We must not be afraid. We must trust the Lord who knows what is best for us.

Today, people around the globe are hurting because of the coronavirus. Many families have lost their loved ones. Could it be we are suffering because of the sins of mankind? If so, Jesus has a remedy
for us. If we put our faith and trust in Jesus, if we confess our sins to Him, and by way of His Holy Spirit invite Jesus into our lives, He will forgive us our sins.

La historia sobre el segundo signo o milagro se encuentra en Juan 4:46-54. Es una historia sobre un noble. En la lengua griega un noble significa un «funcionario real". John MacArthur dice que lo más probable es que fuera «alguien oficialmente adscrito al servicio del rey Herodes Antipas, Tetrarch de Galilea».

El funcionario real vino a Jesús porque su hijo yacía enfermo en Capernaúm y estaba cerca de la muerte. El oficial real estaba desesperado. Le rogó a Jesús repetidamente que fuera con él para sanar a su hijo. Es probable que el funcionario real quisiera ver a Jesús debido a Su reputación como un trabajador milagroso. Jesús dijo: «Vuelve a casa, que tu hijo vive» (Juan 4:50, NVI). «Vuelve a casa» fue un mandato con la promesa de la vida. El funcionario real tomó a Jesús en Su palabra. De camino a casa conoció a sus sirvientes. Le dijeron que la fiebre de su hijo había desaparecido. El funcionario real preguntó a sus sirvientes a qué hora mejoró su hijo. Cuando el funcionario real se enteró de que su hijo fue hecho bien al mismo tiempo que Jesús le dijo que su hijo viviría, su fe fue confirmada.

La fe construida sobre signos y maravillas no es fe bíblica. La verdadera definición de fe incluye rendirse a la voluntad de Dios. «Porque ustedes tienen tan poca fe - les respondió...Les aseguro que si tienen fe tan pequeña como un grano de mostaza, podrán decirle a esta montaña:«Trasládate de aquí para allá», y se trasladará. Para ustedes nada será imposible» (Mateo 17:20, NVI). !Con él todas las cosas son posibles!

                                    SEVEN SIGNS THAT REVEAL WHO JESUS IS - #5

Matthew 14:25 says, "it was the fourth watch of the night." That meant it was dark but just before dawn... From a mountain, Jesus was watching His disciples row across the lake. "When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water... (John 6:18-20, NIV).

The miracle of Jesus " walking on the water" is another sign of the deity of Jesus. He temporarily stopped the law of gravity. When He did that, He demonstrated His power or dominion over nature.

When I was a soldier at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, another soldier, who I did not know, approached me. He said, "Sir, I have watched you throughout basic training. I believe you must be a Christian."

We may not realize it, but Jesus' eyes are always upon us. We need to keep our eyes upon Him because He is the guiding power of the universe. If we reach out to Him in faith and trust, He can guide us down the path of righteousness. Jesus can help us become what He wants us to be.
