BLOG #90 THE ARMOR OF GOD #1 1/22/2020
Wars are horrible! Parents lose sons and daughters.
Children lose mothers and fathers.
There is another kind of war and it is spiritual in
nature. We, who profess Jesus as our Savior and Lord, are the soldiers in that
war. We are at war with the forces of evil. We can win spiritual battles, but
we can be assured Satan will return to fight another day.
We must “put on the full armor of God” (Ephesians
6:11, NASB). In this verse the word “put” suggests the idea of permanence. We
must wear the whole armor of God so we can resist the temptations of Satan. The
Bible says Satan “… deceives the whole world” (Revelation 12:9, NASB). The Bible
says Satan is “the father of lies” (John 8:44, NASB). The word “Satan” means “our
adversary (opponent).” He is our enemy and the enemy of God!
The armor of God is a metaphor (figure of speech). The
armor of God is our spiritual defense against attacks by Satan.
