“Love does
not envy…does not boast…is not proud…is not rude…” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5, NIV).
Love does not envy. Love does not burn with jealousy. The Apostle Paul
was aware there was disharmony in the church at Corinth. Part of the problem may
well be what is revealed in 1 Corinthians 11:22, NIV. Paul asked the Corinthian
church, “…do you… humiliate those who have nothing?”
Love does not boast. Love does not brag about those things that are unimportant. Evidently, some members in the church were
conceited and filled with pride. They thought of themselves as more important
than others.
Love is not proud. It is not rude. It is not arrogant or have an inflated opinion of oneself.
The Pharisee who stood up and prayed: “God
I thank you I am not like other men (such as) robbers, evildoers, and
adulterers…” (Luke 18:11, NIV). Someone said, “the Pharisee thanked God for
what he was, not for what God is. “Love is not rude. It does not act unseemly.

love our Heavenly Father gives us does not act with a selfish attitude-
