THE BASICS OF PRAYER #7
BLOG #75 Intercessory Prayer 10/1/2020
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more
and more in knowledge and in all judgment: That ye may approve things that are
excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto
the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:9-11, KJV).
The Apostle Paul was a prisoner in Rome when he wrote the letter for the church in Philippi.Paul was faced with a difficult situation, but his situation did not keep him from rejoicing.
The Apostle Paul encouraged the Philippians to have
hearts filled with love. To have the love that goes with knowledge. A knowledge
which is deeply rooted in the truths that are found in the Bible. He encouraged
them to live Christian lives that were worth imitating (see 1 Peter 1:22). To live with a greater recognition and
understanding of what is right and what is wrong.
John MacArthur says “the fruits of righteousness” is better translated as the fruit righteousness produces (see James 3:17-18). The righteousness which is of God by faith (see Philippians 3:9).
Paul encourages the Philippians to have
genuine faith. To live their Christian lives without causing themselves or
others to stumble (see Ephesians 2:10).
