BLOG #79 IS CHANGE A POSSIBLITY? #2 10/31/2020
Part One
Jeremiah 18:2-4
God called Jeremiah to warn the people of Judah that a
disaster was coming. It was because they had turned away from God, but the
people of Judah would not listen to him.
Jeremiah became very discouraged. The Lord told
Jeremiah to go down to the potter’s house. There were some lessons he needed to
learn. As Jeremiah watched the potter making pottery, he suddenly realized the clay
and the potter were interrelated.
What were the characteristics of the potter? 1. He was
thorough, if the vessel was marred, he squashed the vessel and put it on the
wheel again. 2.He was careful, if needed he added a little more water. 3.He was
patient, he made sure the vessel was perfect.
There are some lessons we can learn from this parable:
1. The Lord is the potter. 2. The Lord is sovereign
[the supreme ruler]. 3. He has the right to judge His people. 4. He has the
right to uproot, pull down, or destroy a nation (see v.7). 5. He has the right to bless.
