THE BASICS OF PRAYER #4
BLOG #72 PRAYER OF REPENTANCE 9/12/2020
“For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not but
have eternal life” (John 3:16, NIV)
Jesus said, “…no one can see the kingdom of God unless
he is born again (John 3:3, NIV). The kingdom of God is the reign of
God. The reign of God which will reign supreme. Jesus said, “…no one can
enter the kingdom unless he is born of water and the Spirit (3:5). Born of
water is to be made clean (see Psalm 51:10). Born of the Spirit is
to be spiritually reborn.
In John 3:16 the word believe means to
commit unto Him. It implies trusting our spiritual well-being to God.
Why do we need to repent? We who never have committed our
lives to Christ, we need to be spiritually reborn. For we who are professing
Christians, we need to repent if we are not living a life that pleases God.
What does it mean to repent? It is a change of mind.
It is to feel sorrow for what we have done or not done. It is the desire to
have a right relationship with God.
God’s love is not limited. He loves all the people in
the world. And the eternal life He offers us is everlasting life. It is not
only the quantity of life, but the quality of life.
