BLOG 31 - 10/10/2019 Blessed Are The Peacemakers? English / Español
After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in World War II my mother told me Americans lived in constant fear that the enemy would invade the mainland. They prayed for peace. Finally, the war came to an end and a peace treaty was signed. After the war ended, the United Nations was formed to promote peace among the nations. However, as Jesus predicted, wars and rumors of war still exist.
What does the word "peace" mean in Matthew 5:9? It's something that's spiritual and internal. It's a peace we receive when we trust, love, and obey God. A peace that flows from a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. What is the work of peace? It's the work of reconciliation or bringing into harmony. A bringing into harmony which focuses on the love of God.
Peacemakers are people who have experienced the peace of God and they proclaim it among men. Peacemakers seek to resolve conflicts not to seek revenge. They seek to do everything which is for their fellowman's highest good. It's worthy to mention the Scriptures say God is the God of peace and Jesus is the Prince of peace.
The Scriptures say God calls His peacemakers His sons and daughters. What an honor it is to be called a son or daughter of God!

Oraron por la paz. Finalmente, la guerra llegó a su fin y se firmó un tratado de paz. Después de que la guerra terminó, las Naciones Unidas se formaron para promover la paz entre las naciones. Sin embargo, como Jesús predijo, todavía existen guerras y rumores de guerra.
¿Qué significa la palabra "paz" en Mateo 5:9? Es algo espiritual e interno. Es una paz que recibimos cuando confiamos, amamos y obedecemos a Dios. Una paz que brota de una relación correcta con Dios por medio de Jesucristo.¿Cuál es la obra de paz? Es el trabajo de reconciliación o poner en armonía. Una armonía que se centra en el amor de Dios.
Los pacificadores son personas que han experimentado la paz de Dios y la proclaman entre los hombres. Los pacificadores buscan resolver los conflictos para no buscar venganza. Buscan hacer todo lo que es por el bien más alto de su prójimo. Es digno mencionar las Escrituras decir que Dios es el Dios de la paz y Jesús es el Príncipe de la paz.
Las Escrituras dicen que Dios llama a Sus pacificadores Sus hijos e hijas. ¡Qué honor es ser llamado hijo o hija de Dios!

BLOG 30 - 10/3/2019 The Pure In Heart English / Español
The word "pure" in the Bible means "to be clean or have unmixed motives." I have found out that is difficult to do. At times, I have had to ask myself the questions, "Am I serving the Lord to bring glory to Him or am I trying to make myself look good before others? When I serve the Lord are my motives mixed or unmixed?"
In the Bible the "heart" refers to the whole personality which includes the mind, the will, and the emotions. The "pure in heart" have a right relationship with the Lord. They do what is morally right.
In basic training I had an experience "that shook me up from my bootstraps." I was blindfolded. Then I was taken out into an open field. After the blindfold was taken-off I had so many seconds to spot "the enemy." I couldn't do it because I was blinded by a field full of tall grass and weeds. When "the enemy soldiers" stood-up, I saw they weren't that far from me. Suddenly, it dawned upon me in live combat I probably would have been killed.
I couldn't see "the enemy" because of a field full of tall grass and weeds. Neither can a man with a corrupt heart see God. The Bible says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

Después de que la venda de los ojos fue despegada tuve tantos segundos para detectar "al enemigo". No conseguimos encontrar tu ubicación exacta. Cuando "los soldados enemigos" se pusieron de pie, vi que no estaban tan lejos de mí. De repente, me di cuenta en combate sin vida probablemente me habrían matado.

BLOG 29 - 9/26/2019 English / Español
The emphasis in the first four beatitudes is on how to enter the kingdom of God. Beginning with the fifth beatitude, the emphasis is on how to live in the kingdom of God.
Many years ago, somebody, who chose to remain anonymous, did something extra special for me and my family. That somebody must have known I was in between pastorates. At that time, I didn't have a job. On a given day, I found in my mailbox an envelope with an unsigned note in it and a check which was written for a substantial amount of money. That individual performed an act of compassion.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy" Matthew 5:7, NIV.
What does it mean to be merciful? People who are merciful have a caring attitude. They are affected when they see others suffer. They are compassionate and they have a forgiving spirit. Nobody has been more merciful than Jesus. He healed the sick. He gave sight to a man who was blind. He gave hearing to a man who was deaf. He gave a lame man the ability to walk. Many other miracles He performed. However, His greatest act of mercy was when Jesus, God's Son, followed the will of His Heavenly Father and gave His life on a Cross for our sins. Three days later, He arose from the dead and then He became qualified to be our Lord and Savior.

¿Qué significa ser misericordioso? Las personas que son misericordiosas tienen una actitud cariñosa.
Se ven afectados cuando ven sufrir a otros. Son compasivos y tienen un espíritu indulgente. Nadie ha sido más misericordioso que Jesús. Sanó a los enfermos. Le dio vista a un hombre ciego. Se lo dio a un hombre sordo. Le dio a un hombre cojo la capacidad de caminar. Muchos otros milagros que realizó. Sin embargo, Su mayor acto de misericordia fue cuando Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, siguió la voluntad de Su Padre Celestial y dio Su vida en una Cruz por nuestro pecado. Tres días después, se levantó de entre los muertos y luego se mitó para ser nuestro Señor y Salvador.

BLOG 28 - 9/19/2019 "Blessed are they which do hunger English / Español
and thirst after righteousness." Matthew 5:6
It was during World War I. The German army had surrounded the soldiers in my grandfather's company. Their supplies were cut off. Some of the American soldiers became so thirsty they took the risk of going down the hill to drink water from a clear brook. My grandfather got so thirsty that when he found a little rain puddle made by an indentation of a horse's hoof, he drank it.
It is hard for me to imagine how horrible it is to be so hungry and so thirsty that a person's life is in danger. People who live in the desert may know what it is really like to be thirsty.
The Lord has high expectations as to the way He wants us to live. I yearn to be all God wants me to be. However, I know I will always be yearning to reach that goal. The Apostle Paul explains the reason why. He says, "for all have sinned and come short of the glory (praise) of God."
Romans 3:23, KJV
The words "hunger and thirst after righteousness" are key words in understanding the meaning of the fourth beatitude. For instance, "blessed are those who long for righteousness with their whole heart."

"Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth." Matthew 5:5, KJV
Why is it so important to be "meek?" 1. It's necessary to receive God's salvation. Psalm 149:4, KJV says, "For the Lord...will beautify the meek with salvation." 2. It's commanded. Zephaniah 2:3, KJV says "Seek ye the Lord, all you meek on the earth..." 3. It's necessary to receive God's Word.
James 1:21, KJV says, "...receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." 4. It's necessary to be an effective witness. 1 Peter 3:15, KJV says, "...be ready always to give an answer to every man (who ask you for) a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." 5. It's simply because it's necessary. 1 Peter 3:4, KJV says, "...a meek and quiet spirit...is in the sight of God a great price."
Jesus Christ is the greatest example of what it means to be "meek." "When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate, when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly" 1 Peter 2:23, NIV. Jesus says, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" Matthew 11:29, NIV. The "meek" enter the kingdom of God and someday they will inherit the earth.

BLOG 26 - 9/5/2019 THE SECOND BEATITUDE English / Español
"Blessed (or happy) are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" Matthew 5:4, NIV. Don't these words seem contradictory? Goodness known grief itself is not blessed. Then what does the word "mourn" mean? It isn't related to the pressure or problems we may experience as a result of living on this earth.
Someone has said the words "blessed are those who mourn" can be taken literally. For instance, blessed is the man who has endured the bitterest sorrow that life can bring. However, the best understanding of "blessed are those who mourn" probably refers to those who recognize the weight of their sin and repent. The penitent person has a change of mind and heart. The penitent person sees sin in the same way God sees it and treats it the same way God treats it. Salvation is secured by confession, repentance, and the invitation of Jesus to come into the life of the new believer. With God's Holy Spirit present and at work within the life of the believer he will be comforted.
The Scriptures say, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" 1 John 1:9, NIV.

"Dichosos (o feliz) los que lloran, porque serán consolados" Mateo 5:4, NVI.¿No parecen contradictorias estas palabras? La bondad sabe que el dolor en sí no es bendecido. Entonces, ¿qué significa la palabra "llorar"? No está relacionado con la presión o los problemas que podemos experimentar como resultado de vivir en esta tierra.
Alguien ha dicho que las palabras "benditos son los que lloran" se pueden tomar literalmente. Por ejemplo, bendito es el hombre que ha soportado el dolor más amargo que la vida puede traer. Sin embargo, la mejor comprensión de "benditos son aquellos que lloran" probablemente se refiere a aquellos que reconocen el peso de su pecado y se arrepienten. La persona penitente tiene un cambio de mente y corazón. La persona penitente ve el pecado de la misma manera que Dios lo ve y lo trata de la misma manera que Dios lo trata. La salvación está asegurada por la confesión, el arrepentimiento y la invitación de Jesús a entrar en la vida del nuevo creyente. Las Escrituras dicen, "Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios, que es fiel y justo, nos los perdonará y nos limpiará de toda maldad" 1 Juan 1:9, NVI.
"Blessed (or happy) are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" Matthew 5:4, NIV. Don't these words seem contradictory? Goodness known grief itself is not blessed. Then what does the word "mourn" mean? It isn't related to the pressure or problems we may experience as a result of living on this earth.
Someone has said the words "blessed are those who mourn" can be taken literally. For instance, blessed is the man who has endured the bitterest sorrow that life can bring. However, the best understanding of "blessed are those who mourn" probably refers to those who recognize the weight of their sin and repent. The penitent person has a change of mind and heart. The penitent person sees sin in the same way God sees it and treats it the same way God treats it. Salvation is secured by confession, repentance, and the invitation of Jesus to come into the life of the new believer. With God's Holy Spirit present and at work within the life of the believer he will be comforted.
The Scriptures say, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" 1 John 1:9, NIV.

"Dichosos (o feliz) los que lloran, porque serán consolados" Mateo 5:4, NVI.¿No parecen contradictorias estas palabras? La bondad sabe que el dolor en sí no es bendecido. Entonces, ¿qué significa la palabra "llorar"? No está relacionado con la presión o los problemas que podemos experimentar como resultado de vivir en esta tierra.

La persona penitente tiene un cambio de mente y corazón. La persona penitente ve el pecado de la misma manera que Dios lo ve y lo trata de la misma manera que Dios lo trata. La salvación está asegurada por la confesión, el arrepentimiento y la invitación de Jesús a entrar en la vida del nuevo creyente. The first Beatitude says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 5:3 NIV. The word "blessed" in Greek means "to be fully satisfied." It's a joy that comes with a personal living relationship with Jesus Christ. It's a description of a believer's inner condition. It's a joy that nobody can take away.
During the Great Depression of the 1930's my grandparents were so poor they didn't have money to live in a house. Grandpa found a one-room trailer that had no wheels. The trailer was dragged by a team of horses to a place in an alley. It was a place where Grandpa didn't have to pay rent.
My grandparents lived in physical poverty. However, the words "poor in spirit" mean something different. It refers to a frame of mind. It includes focusing on Christ, having a thirst for the Word of God, and spending time in prayer. It also includes accepting Jesus Christ on His terms.
The word "kingdom" means "a society where the will of God will be done." The Apostle Paul explains why the "kingdom of heaven" will not be fully realized until we inherit our heavenly home.
He says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 NIV. For instance, our personal character and our personal conduct fall short of what He wants us to be.

El remolque fue arrastrado por un equipo de caballos a un lugar en un callejón. Era un lugar donde el abuelo no tenía que pagar el alquiler.
