BLOG #81 IS CHANGE A POSSIBILITY? #4 11/13/2020
In biblical times the Jewish people hated the
Samaritans. It was because the Samaritans were part Jewish and part Gentile. The
orthodox Jews believed the Samaritans were ceremonially unclean. The
relationship between the Jews and the Samaritans became so bad the Jews
tried to avoid traveling through Samaria.
In the fourth chapter of John is the story of the
Samaritan woman. Because of her bad reputation the Samaritan woman was not popular
in the village where she lived. She had had five husbands and the man she was
living with was not her husband.
The Samaritan woman was isolated from society. She must
have felt lonely. She must have felt like there was no hope she could have a
better life. Jesus told her about the living water that would quench her spiritual
thirst eternally. When the Samaritan woman recognized who Jesus was, she put
her faith and trust in Him. Suddenly, her life changed. Her life was filled
with joy.
The same is true for you. If you feel isolated,
lonely, and see no hope for the future there is Somebody who can change your
life. Commit your life to Jesus. His Spirit will come to live within you. If
you make Jesus the Lord of your life, He will give you a life that is worth
living.
Wonderful message. I believe it the change is always possible through Christ Jesus.
